5/21/2023 0 Comments Predictably irrational bookThe book follows a simple and easy to digest structure with each chapter focusing on a particular facet of irrational human behavior. Each irrationality is explored and evidenced by Ariely through tales of the experiments he carried out during his time as Professor of Behavioural Economics at MIT – experiments which largely involved many unsuspecting yet willing students. After demonstrating each irrational behaviour in action and exploring the reasons why people are prone to act thus, Ariely typically goes on to ponder the implications of these insights for society at large. Often these implications are profound. In my defense, as Ariely argues in his book, we’re all prone to procrastination! I may be somewhat of a laggard in coming to the book so late, but “better late than never” as they say. I’m painfully embarrassed to admit that it’s taken me until now to read the behavioural science classic “Predictably Irrational” by Dan Ariely.
